Gray May

This gray sky Of May does lie In lackluster color A futile eye With birds too shy To sing, or fly Through April's chill March lingered still Soaking in chains Of rain's domain Why this delay Of lilac days? If I could task A humble ask A bit of warmth To bloom, to bask On cloudy spheres Which seldom clears If I should seek The season's heat Beneath a leaf's misty rise Will I find flowers In disguise? I am fated to wait In this northern land On a summer created By shorthand Where silver threads Of rays are spun Into an alabaster sun 05/06/24

I love your final stanza the most, Michelle! The whole poem is rhythmic and relatable, as well! May grey is what’s happening here in San Diego, Ca. and I, too, am growing impatient with it! Let the sun shine in! Blessings! :)

Dear Michelle, your poem is gorgeous and absolutely captures the melancholy of a "gray may" and the yearn for the return of summer's "alabaster sun" Loved your rhyme scheme and your sumptuous imagery. Warmest wishes my dear poetry friend.. ~Susan

The true spring personality of the NW on full display, Michelle! Oh, how I remember "grey" springs and chomping at the bit to put away all the raingear for shorts and a bathing suit! Just looked at your weather and it looks like you are in for some warm days!!! Yahoo! I always love your imagery especially a short summer pictured as shorthand!! It is wonderful to have you back in the soup. Have missed you! Here's to the blessings of warm, SUNNY days to come! Blessings!

what a wonderfully descriptive poem I especially relate to the second stanza Michelle, we have had a lovely sunny day today but usually dull and grey. I especially love "Where silver threads Of rays are spun Into an alabaster sun" its a superb line:-) hugs Jan xx

Dear Michelle, your poem eloquently shows the melancholy beauty that often accompanies the transition between seasons. Yet, amidst the gray, there's a sense of acceptance and patience, a recognition of life's natural rhythms. May your journey through this "Gray May" be filled with moments of quiet beauty and the promise of a sun-drenched summer on the horizon. - Blessings, Daniel

"Beneath a leaf's misty rise will I find flowers in disguise", Sometimes spring hides behind the clouds, well penned Michelle

Much enjoyed the tone and flow of this lovely poem, Michelle. Beautifully descriptive of the days recently: This gray sky Of May does lie In lackluster color A futile eye With birds too shy To sing, or fly--awesome!

While you are waiting for sunshine in the grey May, we are waiting for the grey clouds to shield the horrid heat of the sweltering sun and later to rain down to quell the thirst of the parched earth. A beautiful poem dear Michelle. I greatly enjoy your poems. Sending you love.

'where silver threads of rays are spun' -- delicately penned, Michelle; most memorable... Here's to a blue sky and a sunny 'Hi' next time! :) Gershon

We are having a lot of gray days here in the Northwest, at least we should get our first 80 degree day this week, how are things out in Chicago land?
