Good Times

GOOD TIMES “Well old daver” I was saying to myself the other day “There have been a lot of good times A lot of good friends Talk Booze Sex Music and art Even some good rhyme” These days if I play a beautiful old theme A pop tune of old Symphony Salon favorite I used to play ages ago The tears well The tears will roll I am in paradise Or hell’s out- hole Looking through a photo album or old program The same – I choke Every bit of what is me or ever was me is in my throat I thought and thought Clutched Choked All these friends Talk Booze Music Great artists…….. Then it came to me As if a song ‘They are all dead and gone’ At first I gasped But then I laughed Mind-imaging…….. This country western swarthy looking guy Checkered shirt Wide-brim hat String tie Singing all the sentimental stuff To some wailing country western fiddle Yep! He’s singing my song – “I gasped Choked Damn near croaked Them folks and times is dead and gone”

Oh, so sad, Daver. YOu have lived a very long life and I know that it passes very very quickly and I'm not even where you are yet. I started getting these feelings about life after I hit 40. And it never gets better! Its when I focused on poetry too. I think poetry is our gift for having lived so much of life , both the good and the bad. Really enjoyed this one. LUv, Andrea

So nicely written, Daver. We all get a bit sentimental and as we age, we lose more and more of the special people in our lives. You touched my heart, you "old codger." Love you, Carolyn
