Following the Light
“I am the light…”* Thus declared the Source of eternal radiance
Jesus Christ Who assures faith's glow in His presence
checking vision blurred by selfishness and pride
illumining us His believers toward what is forever bright
whenever we seek Him in prayer to flee from blazing vain allurements.
“I am the light…” Thus proclaimed the loving Saviour
granting genuine freedom from confessed guilt angst
delighting us to worship Him with awe
as sin-slavery He vanquishes for serenity-bliss
ending spiritual blindness He alone can heal with complete pardon.
“I am the light…” Thus said the omniscient Guide
keeping us, His followers, settled in His truth
such is His perfect will where we are safely handled
upon infallible wisdom directing against deceit…
enabling us to overcome courageously besetting struggles.
“I am the light…” Thus asserted the Author of holiness
Who does impart righteousness by His justifying grace
purifying us His stewards to be clean vessels
sanctified to fulfill good works along compassion might
as with servants’ hearts, we praise the Lord with gratitude.
“I am the light…” Thus iterated the sovereign God
dispelling fear brought by pandemic-caused obscurity
smiting our despair, doubts and anguish
instilling in us Scriptures' power to triumph over crises
while trusting Him, the Giver of everlasting life.
*John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
