First Encounter

silently you paced,
those moon disc eyes intent, without a blink,

tickled your tum, you rocked from left to right,
grabbing an arm you nipped my hand,
playful, not an attack,
expression on your face of pure delight.
Then suddenly you jumped up,
turned, and shot into a tree,
kept calling me 'till I was out of range,
but deep inside my heart I knew
that we could never be,
because, compared to other girls, you're strange........
