While it only comes around every four years (except on those ending in 00) it has a few surprises:

A prime-numbered day if years leap Adds one extra cycle for sleep This calendar fact Keeps seasons intact And discounts our rents that ain't cheap

Love this Duke. I'm now off to read up about the who, what, where and when of leap years. See what your limerick has done now? :) Cheers - Gary

Thanks Gary...there was a huge uproar centuries ago when Pope Gregory XIII decreed a change in the calendar, which is why we refer to it as gregorian. The reform advanced the date by 10 days:Thursday 4, October 1582 was followed by Friday 15, October 1582. People paying monthly charges were none too happy!!

Very kind sir. I do plan to at some point. I had done that twice about a decade ago, but it may be time to repeat.

Looks like a great Limerick, but I guess I am missing something. I failed to understand the image. I mean what does the calendar show? What's the connection between these numbers. I'm sorry my brain isn't braining these days lol

Paghunda, I get the images I am using from an AI interface. It reads the poem I write and provides an image. So, some of the image can be gibberish like. But, I do see you are looking at this very closely. What will be interesting is how AI gets better as it ages. I am starting to fear it will replace all of us!

Duke, I like how you included primes, sleep, and rents all in one short poem. And how it keeps the seasons intact is overlooked by me. Did you figure out what the calendar in the pic meant?

David, these pictures are all generated by AI and we know it has a few problems. Personally, I find it funny. I send my daughter my poetry, and she sends me back an illustration in a few seconds. Thank you for noticing that all that was stuffed into this.

SP, now you are flattering me! I am merely trying to make a compact analysis of a situation. Hard to get inspired all the time though. I might take a break for a few days!!

Clever take and insight on the 29th day. Your themes are always unique, Duke. Well said--the ending line is very smart.

Vijay, you're most kind as always! It's only a small bonus we get on monthly bills, but perhaps one day, we'll get a bigger break based on society coming to its senses.

Oh definitely. The month to month rent gets a free day for the year. But who cares? Summer Is on its way. This limerick was flawlessly executed.

Hilda, you're so right it's only a few percent. The poem is a bit inane for sure. I think I knew that when I posted it, and you're right--we'll be glad when winter recedes.
