Days Such As These
Days Such As These
What to do about these dull days
When Nimbus clouds sail upon prevailing
Winds? Pains Grey skies weep
And their tears drip into gurgling gutters.
Shadowless days when life lingers, unsheltered,
And slow wet hours pace across the day.
Oh! To turn my back on days such as these
And rest in sleep’s far removed pastures,
To dream of unfathomed horizons,
Of clear, infinite distances.
To lay in slumber’s warm embrace
As the world in distant valleys waits.
