Daphne's Gift

'4x4x4' Poetry Contest. 1-28-25 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Daphne’s Gift Daphne births winter magic When other flowers hide Dainty nosegays, so fragrant, They send early valentines. She smiles in winter Through the fiercest storms, Scent of Heaven’s smile, Gossamer grace enchants snowflakes. Sultry season of snow Melts with winter sighs As daphne exhales poetry Through the winter’s vertigo. One brave little flower Blooms in frigid hours - Daphne lifts the heart With her selfless gift.
