Cherished Moments Together

"Cherish is the word I use to describe
All the feeling that I have
Hiding here for you inside...."
--lyric from "Cherish" by The Association
writer: Kirkman Terry
In the innermost depths of my being Vacation moments seldom ever shared. Nestled amongst the dearest cherished times, Memories carried with me, neatly tucked Inside, loving moments I cherish most, Experiences never repeated In this lifetime and, perchance, nevermore We so enjoyed traveling together. Scaling the high points of Pinnacle Rock, Then, we laid on the sands in Antigua, Watched Arenal blow in Costa Rica Embarked on the stern of the Fantasy Holding my hand above St. Thomas Bay Your sweet kiss in old Puerto Vallarta. SECOND PLACE WINNER

Yep, that's me. I enjoyed writing this poem, and it brought back some very special memories. Unfortunately, my poem would have been pages had I used all of them. Glad you enjoyed the song...a favorite of mine, too. I almost quoted the entire song, but thought better of it. You can look it up on Google.

From what you have written here, you went to a lot of nice places and had a good time in all of them. Enjoyed the read.

Yes, Robert, Deb and I traveled extensively. She even made a trip to Switzerland and Italy on her own. We both loved to travel. That has been the most difficult part of COVID for me, as it has put the kabosh on my traveling since Deb died. I did go once more to Puerto Vallarta after, but it wasn't the same. I think I have located a good travel companion for future trips. Thanks for coming by.

Yeah, JB, it certainly does. It's a lovely word that reaches into the depths of our hearts for the most treasured moments...those we cherish above the daily, mundane experiences of life. Thanks for your read.

Times like those, so wonderful to cherish them. Very nicely done! Do you recall the song Cherish? It came right to my mind when I saw the contest title.

Yep, I do, Andrea. Funny thing. I looked up the lyrics of the song right before I wrote this poem, thinking I might somehow incorporate them, but I couldn't see how to work them in. The lyrics are beautiful and certainly fit the theme of the contest. "Cherish is a word I use to describe, all the feelings....etc., etc." Thanks for the read.
