Brute Censorship

If you are so proud
of your sensibilities and tastes,
so convinced that your arbitrary judgements
are infallible as heartbeats of angels,
if you are the sole instrument of God's grace and evaluations
then why don't you allow them to stand next to that which you condemn
for your peers and the world to judge,
why deny those immaculate tenets the glory
of intellectual and moral combat
to prove their legitimacy, their spiritual superiority
and not to become what they claim to understand and abhor,
who and what do you believe you are protecting,
its critics like you that retard the development of the Youth,
attempt to shame love and passion,
encourage the madness of tyrannies,
and succor the demons of oppressive cults,
does a rose hide itself in the shade,
does a beautiful sword dignify itself with wild slashes,
does the truth honor itself with silence,
does justice inspire with opinion,

Banish the bullies,
trip the trolls,
excise the malevolent,
leave passionate love alone...
I declare,
let there be contrast,
let there be Art -

What's most important is that we do not censor our love...pride and emotions can make that difficult, but the strong overcome the anger, I know you understand this my Lady Hawk...J.A.B.

Hi Justin, a feeling of freedom here, running in tandem with the expressions of it you air, I suppose I err on the side of encouragement.. As opposed to this view, I will agree there is a need for criticism..' Yet let it not go too far..' As truly poetry is an expression of Gods creation, therefore all of life holds poetry.' both the cultured and the uncultured all share the same existence..' Let us all strive for better co-habitation of this world.'

Funny that you mention Nietzsche in your comment to me. In a poem I just posted a few hours ago, When the World Grew Wings, mentions Nietzsche (though only in passing).

Synchronicity is a marvelous thing...Nietzsche is a true legend of self reliancy and psychic disturbance. I shall read your poem soon...J.A.B.

"then why don't you allow them to stand next to that which you condemn for your peers and the world to judge," << Way to expose hypocrisy here! It's a such a simplistic concept, but yet so few follow ... we all want to sit in the Judge's seat, and yet never be judged ourselves. "let there be contrast, let there be Art -" ... I see no conformist here, but one who wants everyone to know he is, and all the masks in the world be damned...

Precisely my friend, a challenge to the injustice of arbitrary punishment...when we trust ourselves then we can trust the world's reaction to us, and our response to the world Timothy. We must learn to see truth in all action...J.A.B.

Wow. Another gem of write, my friend! Your personality and beliefs shine through in this hold-no-punches poem. I seem to remember a conversation I had awhile back with you, in regards to my poem Ugly Words, where I showed disdain for people's flippant use of harsh words. In that sense, however, I was referring too people's mishandling of words that have strong meanings, yet not meanings that they themselves intend. I enjoy honesty and integrity, and this has both of these qualities. Excellent.

Nietzsche would have loved your mind, and he would probably attack it just for fun too :) defending my heart is very instinctive for me Timothy, because I believe in it's goodness. Like you, I have a passion for epistemology. Thanks for the powerful intellect of your comments...J.A.B.

This is powerful poetry that brings people together. I really love the wisdom in these lines - " does a rose hide itself in the shade, does a beautiful sword dignify itself with wild slashes,does the truth honor itself with silence, does justice inspire with opinion" Being able to express the heart the way it really is (despite how explicit or intense) is very important to me, and your words resonate with me. Definitely another fav. :) "let there be contrast, let there be Art"Yes! Always, Laura
