Roses are dying; the blue bird is crying. Posies line the pockets of those who are sick and dying.

Most nursery rhymes are NOT comforting if one really thinks about it. The cradle and limb fall/break, the London bridge falls down just like Humpty Dumpty who couldn't be put back together, on and on it goes. (then there's the French song about pulling out a bird's feathers.) I enjoy your imagination very much ... CayCay

I have another poem on here somewhere that takes a look at many nursery rhymes and ask some very basic questions about them: example in Rock a Bye Baby, why was cradle so high up in the tree? Oh I agree that the nursery rhymes are NOT comforting.

I feel sorry for each rose, and the bluebird too, and so, the best thing, I suppose, is to help him blow his nose.

Altogether a depressing situation. But as the seasons change and situations alter, roses will bloom again. I feel this poem is a metaphor on life. Well done, Miranda.

This poem is just me trying to twist another nursery rhyme into other words. My story of depression is one perhaps for another poem or me in the mood to share.

Oh my. Well. The original ring around the Rosie is about a plague so this makes perfect sense!
