This poem is not anti American, nor anti western, in our society we should have the right to speak up against what is wrong and fight for justice and humanity. Many have huge opinions for a topic they have little knowledge about. A small clue to understanding any situation, when you see one side completely de humanize another, and place collective punishment on all, you should be very wary of any thing said from that side.

Over 75 Universities in the USA now have protest encampments and starting in Canada.

I have found in life the younger the person, they may not always be right, but on issues of humanity they are almost never wrong. Compassion is an instinct, hate is taught.

Thanks Arthur, you're writing about something critically important. Something is very wrong for sure in the way people are being dehumanized and young people instinctively know they would like it to stop.

Whether people (Americans or not) learn from their mistakes or those of others, they give them no credence if it inhibits them from the greed and power they seek. Everyone knows right from wrong, but if it stands in the way of what they seek... they run over it. Good points made, Art.

As I said below, I think all the comments are far better than the poem. :)

Fantastic poetry centered on the fight for power between oppressors and oppressed groups, between governments and students or resistance organizations. The concepts of activism, defiance, injustice, and the struggle for liberty and justice were all brilliantly expressed by you. Excellent work, Arthur.

Very well said, all the comments warrant more praise than the poem!

Yess, yes, and yes! Truth and bold words, love it! It's bitter but I glimpse a ray of hope behind the scenes. After all, one who has given up completely will not write so passionately! You expect this to change hearts and minds and thus the hope. At least that's my humble understanding of what I've just read. Thank you for sharing!

Never or slow leaning from follies is not only a problem of America but a general problem of all the countries of the world. But those who are powerful have a greater role to play in maintaining the peace on Earth. I think Gun culture is the main cause of voilence and hatred in the world and unless we keep it in control the fruits of peace and love can never reach to our youth who are often right and often wrong in their Ist evaluation of things. Quite a thought provoking poem df. Ravindra
