A New Grandson
I marvel at this little boy
His very presence brings me joy
So dainty, fragile, and serene
At last, a grandson I have seen
I contemplate his tight closed eyes
His gentle soft and soughing sighs
His cutest little button nose
As he slumbers sweetly in repose
I feel the down beneath my touch
And though there isn’t very much
His soft and silky baby hair
Is like his mother’s, light and fair
I wonder what the future holds
In years to come, as life unfolds
For this, my daughter’s new born son
A brand new life that’s just begun
I speculate what he might be
And hope that I might live to see
When he becomes a full grown man
He’ll strive to be the best he can
