A good day to contemplate Australia wide' they shall celebrate
Soon will dawn Australia day.' A date on the calender some
Pages away..Its the first poem from me, on this holiday
In the past I was not one (for its celebration lets say?) Yet
Decades have sifted me.' Experience has shifted me.! I
Feel for the past though I will say.' It has been a hard go! and
Most challenging for the convicts; and early settlers in.'
For Aboriginal people, it was quite harrowing, bringing also
Much suffering.' Yet this is not a new thing' nations fall
And rise and sll the the while the gum leaves sigh.' All
The while Ulurù still stands 'or Ayers rock' both names are
In this land.' And dreams of people, all part of that' from the coast the mountains, to city folk, and 'the great outback' this day is
But another one, under the strong Australian sun.' Yet it
Can be viewed as another chance.' Another take.? A look a
Glance? at a country rich in in generosity, of the battler spirit
It instilled in me.' Can it be a day that will challenge our minds? A day to stand together.' Let negative past deeds
Subside.' Reach out to all Aussies..Look to your values
Stay strong, give wide berth of politicans' raise your flag
Sing your songs.' Take care of your elders, and encourage
The young' build up the nation now, hold your borders' show the world. Get things really moving along.!!
