Embryonic oaks lie upon the grass, their browns a gift to my eyes. I stare at the acorns for a while, letting this moment of bliss extend as much as the light is spreading over the horizon. The path before me winds onwards. Although there is much journeying on the path ahead, I pause momentarily remembering why I started down this path, this journey. Hesitantly, I step across the borderline between the seen and unseen understanding that choosing not to go is no choice at all. Aren't all quests like that? I steel myself and keep moving forward.
one step at a time a balanced sojourn will take one day at a time

Your lovely poem paints a vivid picture of a tranquil scene with embryonic oaks lying on the grass, their browns a visual gift. The contemplation of acorns becomes a metaphor for savouring a moment of bliss, subtly echoing the passage of time as light spreads over the horizon..

There is truth in: understanding that choosing not to go is no choice at all. Aren't all quests like that? I steel myself and keep moving forward...and yes, we must step out or lose our place, because the path is marvelous to follow and it brings wisdom.

This is so deep and moving dear sara, you have written a very philosophical and introspective haibun. And left me reading and grasping little details like “ Although there is much journeying on the path ahead, I pause momentarily remembering why I started down this path, this journey” thats a reminder to me too, that theres a reason i chose this journey, in life, to pause too sometimes. And to reflect and keep going. I needed that! Thank you! And congratulations too on being in winners list. FAV
