You Remember Oceans

You remember oceans Filling your wet footprints With foam and salty brines The tracks you left upon Seashell crusted shorelines You remember oceans As immense illusions Irregular and curled Cutting slanted cliffs from The wild ends of the world You remember oceans Majestic and complete Like your heart when whales dive Under aqua castles Where coral is alive You remember oceans In shifting turquoise green Dawn gold to midnight blue And, when tides are pulling Oceans remember you 04/09/22

I came back to read this tonight (for your poems have become like old friends to me) and was startled to find I had yet to leave a comment. What I love about this is all the movement: filling wet footprints, cutting slanted cliffs, whales diving under aqua castles (excellent line!) and tides pulling... how this makes me want to go walk on the shore or go on a whale-watching excursion, or jump in and feel that tide. All of these things I love. This poem I love. The last line was the perfect denouement. I hope late is better than never (and I hope they love it at betterthanstarbucks!) Fave.

Hi Michelle - If i lived by the sea, i would sea gaze all day long, when we go on holiday, the veranda is a stones throw from the promenade and another so much to the sea, but with climate change i think I would prefer to go to the Kruger National Park for the time being anyhow. i see congrats are in order - well done, superb poetry. Happy Easter Day my friend, Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

WoW! Michelle, You've penned a well-written and alluring piece about the ocean. I found the last two lines of the final stanza to be well penned and thought-provoking. Best wishes in the contest. Have a great day-Alexis

The last two lines just scared the living bejeebers out of me. I wonder if it did that to others too. Magnificent stanzas, Michelle. :) Gershon

So sorry, gw, it means that you and the ocean are part of each other, it wasn't meant to be scary :(
