Wisdom From Trees

In air of forest shade, among the sturdy roots, I patiently await the gift of freshly fallen fruit. From lush trees etched in light, I hear sounds of rebirth - like songbirds waking in their nests above cool, mossy earth. And from their lasting leaves, I feel a healing strum. Within my heart, wisdom resounds, like soft beats of a drum. In crisp and gentle winds, my bare arms feel caressed, as I envision blooms in spring, just like a welcomed guest. And like the tallest tree, limbs ancient reaching sky, My hands reach up to seek the Lord’s greatest wisdom on high. Love echoes through the trees from verdant bough to root, from tender bud to thickened bark from falling leaf to fruit. Written 5/23/22 for Wisdom from Trees Contest

Rhonda, I love this! I don't know if you are familiar with the hymn "Rise Up O Men of God" (also known as "Rise Up O Saints of God"), but I've been singing your poem to that tune this morning. I am enjoying all the aspects of forests, trees, birds, and leaves that you consider in this poetic jewel. "Within my heart, wisdom resounds, like soft beats of a drum." The last two stanzas make for a fitting climax and synopsis of this enchanting experience contemplating a lovely forest. Stunning and beautiful, going in my Faves. Love your writing ~ John
