What It's Worth

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but let me tell you what a word is worth Worth it all All of you Eulogies of bygone days Teleported feelings from here To there Here from neurons to fingers ligaments to pen You look outside your moonlit window thinking When? A nagging doubt at what came out Only to realize It was you All along Paradoxically on the page Drips of you on display Your mirror says Hello How do you do? As you realize There is two one in (brackets) one in Exclamation!!! !!! ... trailing behind Thoughts of varied choices Whispers of (by the way) and Let me think about this Leading too What if I did This This or that This is not how it's supposed to be Me writing about me Writing about Me The words come in six and twenty Combinations of anxiety of pErPlExItY of i nd e fina b i lit y Divinity That's all it is Not me Not you Just echoes of God's creativity FADING FADing fading ... bliss An epiphany wrapped in How did I Did I? No Of course not You find the beauty in between dead s p a c e s of life A word Just a word That's what it's worth Inspired by the Writings of Joseph Granda-Padron

Thanks Da Lusion. I had a lot of fun with this one, experimenting with the visual aspects of poetry.

True that! Words are all around us, whether we pay attention to it or not ... I think it's maybe just the writers and the poets that take advantage of the observations and attempt to put it too good use! Thanks for your always thoughtful and kind visits ... they are a joy to me.

Hi Timothy: You have captured it...the poets eternal dilemma, ....the sometimes inadequacy of words to match the emotions, the feelings, the abstract as opposed to the concrete. I like how you have used text and spacing to enhance the thoughts. How to capture beauty in words often fails us. I love my Thesaurus. SuZ

Thanks Suzanne. This is my first time incorporating spacing into my poetry. Another poet on this site, Joseph Granda-Padron, does it very well, and I was moved by how it made you pause and think.

And you did not even need to make use of all 26 letters to write this intriguing poem, Timothy:) "A picture is worth a thousand words", yet a word can evoke a thousand pictures! The most important thing is to think before we speak...once a word is let free there's no getting it back. Have you ever thought about how many spoken/ written words we produce every day?! // paul

That's a very interesting thought, Paul! And yes, we've all had many words we have regretted to say ... we wish we could just forget about them, but in unexpected random moments, they pop up again!

Thanks for the fave Laura! This was an experimental piece of mine, in trying to create a poem that was more visually aesthetic. I'm happy that it made sense ... perhaps it wouldn't to those who aren't writers!

sometimes words paint a thousand pictures too...i always call writing metaphors painting a picture through words...poetry speaks to the reader in the same way the muse speaks to the poet...we don't always know what is going to come out but it's always worth it! i enjoyed this one....hugs

Glad you could enjoy, Sandra. Words can take people in a thousand different directions (and each person will get a slightly different perspective) ...
