We See What We Want To See
We see what we want to see, I am told,
Sometimes I say the glass is half empty--
While many will see the glass as half full,
In either case there is always plenty.
We see what we want to see, I am sure
Principles broken were not meant for me
The rule, you see, only sometimes applies
When it is for me most conveniently.
We see what we want to see, ‘tis so true
Beauty in the eye of the beholder
It makes little difference what you think
She gets prettier, as I get older.
We see just what we want to see, my friend
You see at the end of the tunnel light
But I see an oncoming freight train there
And faint away at the perilous sight.
We see exactly what we want to see
I know folks who never see shades of gray
It is forever black or white with them
They’ll argue about it night and day.
