~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ her regrets were dust. they cocooned her in an arid cloud of failed feelings and missed chances. she was gasping for breath when a gentle rain washed them away.
I like this a lot. I was a little kid at the end of the era of wringers among 'modern parents' as mine tried to be. Those wringers wrung the clothes and drained the their human operators. The exhaustion and enervation was and is palpable. Kudos, Gershon
I, too, was a small child when wringer washers were being replaced with those 'fancy automatics.' I watched my mother and grandmother using those old washers...it was exhausting for them...I guess that's why only one day a week was designated as 'wash' day. Have a splendid day, Sara
Magnificent poetry on the subject of overcoming regret and moving on. Your description of the suffocating effects of regret and the eventual relief from them brought about by a cleansing rain—a metaphor for forgiveness or renewal—is quite moving.
Yes, it was hard... I remember my grandmother's washer was outside where she heated water and the washer did it's thing but she had to turn the crank to wring the water out before hanging the clothes on the line to dry. Now, some washing machines even talk. Amazing! thanks for your visit, Sara
Thanks for visiting, Paul. I appreciate your positive remarks as well as your reflections about the washing machine. I remember my grandmother's was outside where she heated water and the washer did it's thing but she had to turn the crank to wring the water out before hanging the clothes on the line to dry. Now, some washing machines even talk. Amazing! enjoy your evening, Sara
Dear Sara, I loved how you captured the transformative power of release and renewal with breathtaking elegance. Such as the imagery of regrets cocooning in an arid cloud speaks volumes about the weight we carry from our past. Yet, the gentle rain that washes them away symbolizes hope and liberation. There is always the promise of cleansing and rebirth. Beautifully crafted reflection on the journey towards healing and redemption. - Blessings, my friend, Daniel
Always some regrets, curiosities...always wondering, if only slightly, of road not traveled...life is really too short -- our nature to want to wander where we wonder. Lovely read. Thank you.
