Upon The Seat
My wife said let’s go cycling, we can see some countryside
And we can cycle anywhere, however far and wide
I like the fact that we can cycle, whatever the weather
And cycle riding is one thing that we can do together
We set off and as always it was I who led the way
She always said that I should let her take the lead one day
We took a route she didn’t like and so we had a row
Alas we went our different ways: I travel solo now
I stayed upon my chosen route because good planning pays
I haven’t seen my wife at all since we went separate ways
She rode off on a route that she appeared to choose at random
And I look daft in Lycra… for we’d set out on a tandem.
