Your poem reminded me of the famous 100 year old Galapagos Island turtle named Lonesome George. When these little guys are born and desperately move to the water, I always wish I could help them. I agree with so many below, your phrase,"moon mirrored seas" holds such beautiful imagery. I'm happy to have found this one. It is lovely.

I haven't seen turtles on a moon-mirrored sea (love that wording) but I have seen a grunion run a night, and it is a delight to behold. Lovely haiku, Michelle

The pull of those seas, esp. when 'moon-mirrored.' ~ Sandy... Seriously, penned with a noble dignity, Michelle.

We have seen turtles eggs been laid by the turtle mummy - did not count but normally theY lay between 80 - 120 eggs - 60 days approximately later, these eggs hatch and these tiny babies scuttle down to the sea and the waves, about 1% survive as birds and crabs will eat them. Never seen it but it must be awesome yet so sad to watch. Love turtles so going to fave this fabulous Haiku Michelle. My comment is specific to Leather back turtles only, different species will vary love and hugs Jennifer

From time to time, Sea Life Park on the island of O'ahu, liberates those it has raised with an Hawaiian ceremony, and it is indeed a joy to see them march into the sea! Aloha!
