Treasures of My Heart

In my memory, a treasure leaps, A gift from grandma, to clean my cheeks! A tiny green bar of soap, With a handle, made of rope! In the shower, my heart sang, Outside the door, stood the gang! They had much fun at my expense, Joy and laughter, comes from thence! Playing Jack’s, with my first best friend, and sharing secrets, without end! Flourishing into fine young ladies, bringing about bouncing babies!, Learning how to be good wives, and learning to live separate lives! A sister’s love, may not last forever, as a cherished treasure, she’ll leave me never! Then there’s the apple of my eye, He’s really an awesome guy! From that first day, when he held my hand; I knew by him I would always stand! Our passion arose, from flirtation, then love grew, without limitation! I know he is truly my better half; he makes me glow; he makes me laugh! Little diamonds, in the rough, Give me glory, sure enough! The pitter patter of their feet, Their laughing, crying, sure was sweet! Precious memories is what’s left, their growing up, feels like a theft! Many treasures, I can’t pick! They just grew up way to quick! My time of sorrow, my aching heart, The loss of mom, and a brand new start! She never ever left my side, With her gentle touch, she did chide! I can’t find words to express my sadness, or the memories, we had in gladness! Her presences come, in my dreams, and my broken heart her love seams! In this place, full of my treasures, I find Jesus, without measures! Of these worldly rich’s I have plenty, But without Jesus, I am empty! I dance, I sing in pure delight, since this Jewel, made me right! All my treasures, reside within, Within my chest, where I begin! Stacey Brown 9-18-13
