I cannot comprehend our great Creator’s mind, how every galaxy he perfectly designed - how every atom in the universe is his, ordered and known by him, as all creation is. No eye has ever seen, no ear has ever heard, no mind ever conceived the secrets known to him alone. No mind can fully grasp the myst'ry of your ways - joyful the heart that trusts and gladly renders praise for such an awesome love that sent your Son to die. How could that love extend to sinners such as I? I may not ever know why you would choose to show your grace to sinful man – though once concealed, through Christ revealed. Unworthy are my words your glory to express; loosen my tongue O Lord, your praises to profess. Though we don’t know in full, we know enough to trust that you are perfect, wise, all-loving, good, and just. No eye has ever seen, no ear has ever heard, no mind ever conceived the secrets known to you alone. "...as it is written, no eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him - but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit" ~ I Corinthians 2:9-10 Written 7 Nov 2005

Hi John! Congratulations on your Lifetime membership! I enjoyed all the ones that got sent to my inbox, especially this one and your ekphrastic response to Van Gogh’s Starry Night. I love all your descriptions and expressed thoughts on these. I really felt for your niece in “Winter Antidote” too. There’s a lot of pathos in that one. Don’t ever stop writing. Have you ever published a book of your poems?

I think of myself as a Christian John but as a Physicist too, while I trust in Grace I find life on this plane more difficult to fathom! If we do not have immortal timeless souls, how does life even make sense? Am I more than a dream God has whose actors somehow have free will? If I exist in God's dream though I am truly immortal if God is real! My hope is that my musings make him smile and that He grows in me as I grow in Him! Might God wonder WHO made Him? Be blessed!

aha!! Here it is. Something to be proud of: your first POTW! I feel bad that I never took track of my honors here like POTD, etc. I don't know if there is a way to look them up any more! I should have written in the "about poem" boxes that I got those awards! Learn from my mistake and start doing that.

In Romans 5:8 (NIV) it states "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" He took our place. That is Unconditional Love. "Though we don’t know in full, we know enough to trust" You are correct my dear friend. Your thoughts take my heart to the sky. This is so beautiful and tender. Inspiring. Congratulations John, on Poem of the Week. :) Brandy

Such a wonderful verse to be reminded of, Brandy. "He took our place". That's the message of Good Friday and Easter Sunday in a nutshell. I'm glad you found this inspiring, my friend. Your words make me smile, and your affirmation is a gift. Blessings today ~ John

John, your prayerful poem lilts with lyrical loveliness, spiritual richness and depth. Especially striking is the beauty of humility conveyed in this amazing and profound thought; 'How could that love extend to sinners such as I?' Though I highlighted this one, every line is magnificent in its expression of surrender and awe for the almighty Creator. Congratulations on your well deserved POTW honors. I hope you and yours enjoyed a wonderful Easter, my dear friend. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

"Though we don’t know in full, we know enough to trust" so eloquent a line among wonderful others! Indeed, a limited mind unable to conceive God and the mystery of His creation.. yet, empowered by Faith, we are enabled to see, feel and believe! A great work with so profound thoughts and powerful surrender to the Almighty God.. I so much enjoyed reading your poetry, John. Congratulations on your POTW honour! A well earned recognition.. My deepest regards and blessings.
