To Where You Are

Across the miles to where you are beyond the highways, however far chasing love inside my dreams daring to believe you were there for me even if I may never see you again forever in my heart I will tend, and gather my vivid memories of you how we met under skies so blue in summer fields beside the sea jasmine scents wafting in the breeze kindred spirits, that we were love was born, our hearts were pure much was said with only our eyes neither noticed the dimming skies over the course of time, we knew parting had to come, winds blew quickly towards the eastern shore restless longings were no more sullen skies drew us apart tangled torment gripped my heart until then, I thought you were mine verily, I despaired our sad decline when you sought to go, you left xenial beginnings were now bereft yearnings for you, I’ll never forget zeal for you in dreams I’ve kept.

Thank you, David, for your kind and encouraging comments! My poetic muse has drifted off as of late, so I wait patiently for its return. Hope to write more often, God willing! :)

Laura, a very nicely crafted piece with your gentle cadence and rhyming couplets. An abcedarian is a challenge as it is without the added elements of poetic devices. The imagery is beautifully suited for such a Poem of melancholy and longing. I particularly liked "neither noticed the dimming skies" and "sullen skies drew us apart". Great work, my friend!

Thanks for sharing this. God bless you. Meanwhile, I greet you with a Joyous New Year with this prayer from the Bible in Numbers 6:24-26, "The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace."

Dear Laura, I absolutely love this and it resonates deeply with me. This is so heartfelt, beautifully written and expressed. ‘tangled torment gripped my heart’ powerful and something so many of us can feel and easily relate to. Like Tom, I too, have never attempted this form but it so obvious to see that you have done it great justice with this wonderful piece. Love it- it’s a fav from me! Thank you for sharing. Hugs to you for a beautiful Christmas xx

I've never tried one of these. You handled it expertly and your theme is a cousin to my latest post. I'll have to look up xenial though :). I always enjoy my visits here Laura
