"A heart is not judged by how much you love; but by how much you are loved by others." - Frank L. Baum

A Jinjagoliath poem:
26th June 2023
POTD 28.6.23
-------------

Listen to poem:
My work is identity The axe in my hand No blisters to bother me As for years I just stand The weeds and the flowers Call me back down to earth The brown rust confuses Destroys my self-worth The tears and the rain Have frozen me here It could be forever At least that is my fear But then I hear singing And love with a twirl There's something of beauty This dog and this girl She stops to acknowledge Where my work is so stale I am rescued completely My Dorothy Gale We converse, no lips moving I creak and I groan She talks of a journey To get herself home I determine to help her As she's helping me We walk and we talk It feels good to be free It's strange but I know that She strives for the best I feel something beating Once again in my chest Not sure where we're going When this journey will end But I feel like I love her This newly found friend

When love sprouts in a heart, life alltogether takes a new turn. We needn't fear where the journey takes. But, be assured, it will somehow turn to be pleasant. Congratulations Christopher on your POTD

That is true wisdom Valsa. We all have the capacity to love, when the right person comes along! Thank you x

A lovely poem. Well done. Wizard of oz was such a good film. The film called 'Judy' was such a sad film about Judy Garlands life.It was such a shame.

"This newly found friend, Dorothy Gale." I believe she's everyone's friend. :) You've brought this movie to the poetic side, and you've done so; in such a creative way. Congratulations Christopher, on Poem of the Day. My best to you. :) Hugs, Brandy

The storytelling success is that we can all relate to a character in some way. Thanks Brandy! Hugs :)

Great rhyming and I like the scarecrow metaphor and reference--Wizard of Oz is one of my favorite movies. I suspect we've all been tin men or women at some point in our lives, rusty and groaning...yet love removes the rust setting us free. Congrats on POTD Sara Etgen-Baker

One of my all-time favorite movies, Christopher. I try to watch it at least every couple of years. I was fortunate...way back in my acting days...to get to play the part of the Scarecrow in a production of "Wizard of Oz". It was a hoot-'n-a-half.

That's a fascinating fact, Jim. Have been scarecrow myself in years gone by.. not on a yellow brick road though. Thanks :))

I had considered that John.. I do have a fascination with the story (and the film) and have since childhood.. I think the scarecrow was my favourite - close call though. Toto got a raw deal I thought. Bless you for your encouragement!!

Excellent and most deserving POTD Chris, so much more going on here than just a metaphorical Dorothy and the tin man, I can see real life being restored after perhaps a deeply troubling period, congratulations cheers, David

Perceptive in it's ambiguousness, David. Of course the original Frank L Baum story and imagery does all of the real work for me.. but I am glad it is not too obvious leaving space for the reader to enter in. Thanks David, appreciated :)
