They and Dark Night

The night, drunk with empty doubt Fearful of invisible ghost, without Touch of serenity that heals, They who watched, waited for the clearing; Wrestled with crude prejudice - This demonic force entering in, This full measure of sin, of Outcast needing cure; Day dawns anew, and Like sounds echoing from stringed music The simmering of dark night The light of day that wakens the dead The night becomes canopy of stars, Guiding lost ships in summer breeze of faith, and Satiny loveliness we love; one with the night. *
