Yesterday's hopes faded away,
but memories are here to stay.
Although love holds no guarantee,
I'm asking you to trust in me.
Clinging to unreconciled fears,
you accuse fate of bringing tears.
Tear down your emotional walls
and recognize love when it calls.
Love directs my every move,
though I've nothing to prove.
But when drink denigrates your mood,
you get defensive and unglued.
Lovers give as well as receive;
believe in truth and not deceive.
Yet, when life bruises your ego,
you recoil, the wounded hero.
