The wealthy couple who live on an island in the Far East but once a year, they visit Europe every year when I see them, they have changed Alas, I wish it had been for the better both are followers of a health regime concocted by a Guru of the type that prays on the rich they are now advanced middle-aged (below 61 and in the hope of staving off the time of elderliness they trim and live on a lettuce a day. Their effort are valiant but in vain time always win At a distance and in the afternoon light, they look fine like upper-middle-class people generally do, She looks like a crow that has stolen a canary plumage, but her match stick arms and legs tells of the losing battle, and her conversation consist of diets and clothes and important art exhibition coming up, where one can meet the right sort of people. He, her husband, is still slim (too slim ?) and plays golf several times a week, but his eye sockets are dark and tells of loneliness and a silent disappointment a sadness that comes about when a partner let the dominant person decides the outcome of a life spent together. Soon, they will be back on the island, where all are middle-aged and served by the local young.
