The Son

The Son I follow the Son. The true Son of the living God. The light of the world, who Illuminates my path. The One who paid the terrible Price of torture and crucifiction. Whose river of blood and torrent of tears Washed my sins away. The One who defeated sin On that ugly old tree. The Son who defeated death through resurrection. The One who changed my life, Taught me to follow the golden rule. Love one another as one would Love yourself. He stripped the chains of selfishness Lies and deceit from my soul. Lifted me out of the mire Of hatred of others. Taught me not to set myself On a pedestal. That true humility is worth Its weight in gold. Doing for the least of these, Sacrificing love of self That is my goal. I follow the Son

Hello Chris, Thank you. Glad you liked the poem. It is too bad more people are not filled with the light. Alot of the problems of this world would diminish

I understand this is a site for poetry and self expression. This is ones testimony how he was transformed and wanted to express it here. What's religious to some may not be religious to others. so I give kudos just for your ability to express your feelings. Keep on writing

Oliver, I see that James Lee Beat me to the punch in responding to this poem. Your other poems were great writes but just as James said, this one reaches to the heart and soul. My Brother in Christ, James, and I write along the same lines as you have done in this fine master piece. Now, he and I have another Brother to share with

Hello James, Thank you. Glad to hear from a brother in Christ. I may not be a good poet as far as the wording goes but the feeling is there. Blessings Oliver
