The Son
The Son
I follow the Son. The true Son
of the living God.
The light of the world, who
Illuminates my path.
The One who paid the terrible
Price of torture and crucifiction.
Whose river of blood and torrent of tears
Washed my sins away.
The One who defeated sin
On that ugly old tree.
The Son who defeated death
through resurrection.
The One who changed my life,
Taught me to follow the golden rule.
Love one another as one would
Love yourself.
He stripped the chains of selfishness
Lies and deceit from my soul.
Lifted me out of the mire
Of hatred of others.
Taught me not to set myself
On a pedestal.
That true humility is worth
Its weight in gold.
Doing for the least of these,
Sacrificing love of self
That is my goal.
I follow the Son
