The Sea and the Shore

If I were the sea and you were the shore Would I be the one that you truly adore? Would you count your sands like an hourglass Would you yearn for me as the moments pass ‘Til my passionate high tide once again pours Over you freely if you were the shore? If I were the shore and you were the sea Would you rush into my arms willingly? Would no other shore ever pull you away Would you wear me down with your love day by day Make my rough edges smooth and my buried heart free To sail with you always if you were the sea? *Inspired by Sara Teasdale's "The Rose and the Bee"
