The Sea

The silence The still calm of the deep The world is asleep and the only sound is that of the water Lapping at the beach No-one exists but the sea and I Nothing has ever existed nor ever will All past and future are gone and all that is left Is this moment, as I look across the calm water To the horizon The infinite sea stretches out before me Time and I are enveloped Now nothing exists But the sea

Very lovely, Laurie, I am also mystified by the sea. If you get a chance I'd love to hear what you think of my poem called "My Mistress, The Sea". Have a great day.

A rather profound thought-- the ocean does seem to be the closest we can get to infinity, the eternal, in this world-- congrats!

Thank you very much! When I first wrote this my family worried that it represented suicidal thoughts but for me it was about feeling like a small, insignificant part of such an immense existence.
