The Sea

Alone by the sea I’m ruined and darkness fills my eyes Alone by the sea I collapse and can’t make me rise Walking alone to the sea My legs’ll fail I didn’t foresee I hear the inner voice say I need someone to hold me The waves surge so strong Strong as my agony Alone by the sea honey I am pining for long I’m alone by the sea I’m ruined and darkness fills my eyes I’m alone by the sea I collapse and can’t make me rise I’m alone by the sea Talking to my shadow only In search of the trail to you For my depressed life so lonely Help me to make me free From the grasp of tormenting tide Alone by the sea I still feel you’re by my side I’m gripped by sense of remorse I shouldn’t have let you leave me The sea so well knows But that was never to be Now on the cloud drifts your face In a trance I’m lured to follow The waves roll over me I sink in the depth of sorrow Alone by the sea I feel my heart break Alone by the sea honey I look out for you I look out for you I look out for you (Inspired by the lyric of Joe Bonamassa song "The river") __________ May 20, 2023 Contest : Smokin Joe Bonamassa Inspiration Sponsored by : Robert James Liguori

Loved the rhythm and flow of your poetry. You took me on a beautiful, haunting journey with you. As I write this, I'm staring at the ocean soothed by the calm gentle flow of its waters. Reminds me of life - the ebb and flow of it. Wising you peace all days:-) Barbara

Sad lines you have penned. I am not familiar with the song you mentioned. The sea or ocean has a soothing quality to me but of course, its waters are very dangerous. Reads like a good contender to me for Robert's contest. Way to go. Thanks for sharing. Sara
