The Poison I Eat
You’re too old to remember
how children play.
You’re too young to forget, but
You’ll forget anyway.
Seeking, dreaming of blue pills and
An old friend who’s on fire. Recalling
The moment I found out she was a
Liar.
Green haze and my best friend coughing
On smoke, after which we dip our feet
In the pool and let our bodies soak.
I’ve loved only once, I’ve had many
Friends lost. I’ve paid for my past and
Given all that it cost.
White cloudy sky, white, thick pill
In my hand. It will wash me in its
Ocean and spit me out on the
Sand.
