now from this temple where I stand upon this earth I sense a land where no malevolent cruel wind blows and stillness reigns where water flows where zeal on fire creates a space to live and love the human race.

Hi Brian! Thank you for your visit, read and great comments. It's funny, when I wrote this I put it down to being one of those poems that would get quickly lost somewhere in the PS void never to be read or seen again so all the comments have been a real bonus. Cheers - Gary

You certainly were inspired to write this wondrous poetry. Must seek out my own 'stupa' and hopefully create something as good as this. A deserve winner in the contest, Gary.

Thanks Harry. I can't tell you how many times I made amendments to this poem and nearly decided not to publish it at all. I just worry for the world at the moment and am deeply disturbed by some of its political leaders. Thanks for reading. Cheers - Gary

Thanks again David. I'm glad you like it. It was one of those poems that I sometimes write and then have doubts about just before I publish. I made the right decision in this case. I need to catch up on reading a few Soupers' poems as I'm lagging behind a bit. Read you soon. Cheers - Gary

Well am I the big numpty? I had no idea what a Stupa is and even briefly wondered if all my life I’ve spelt stupour/ stupor wrong. My first couple of reads were with that in mind and I had visions ranging from Japanese gardens to the inside of God’s head - yes, really! Then I looked up Stupa.... aha!. Smashing write Gary. Love it. Terry - the newly learned one.

Terry, as at July 2022 I have amended the poem by removing the word 'stupa' as I thought it confused things a little. Although I'm happier with the poem, the effect of this amendment is that it basically negates your initial great comment above. Apologies about this. Cheers - Gary

Your a kind soul Gary, because you write these gentle poems with sincerity, and it’s no harm being able to look on the bright side of life, the alternative is just darkness, listen to me I can talk lol, cheers David

Don’t do it there’s no going back, keep focused on what you do well, the main thing is that your not deluded you know it exists, bbc news today the mother who left her child home alone, disturbing stuff indeed.

You've made me think now David..yes..I don't write many dark poems do I? ..I think the darkest I've written are the Wonderland series of poems here at The Soup....but other than that...no..not many at all. You do realise what you've done now don't you? :) Cheers - Gary

Thanks Warren! I managed to include the five elements from Chinese philosophy of earth, wind, water, fire and space which is what I set out to do. I'm really glad you like the poem. Cheers - Gary

You put an image of a Buddhist monk in my head Gary, looking out on the landscape in deep reflection and at peace with himself and all mankind. Tom

Thanks Tom. After the sense of foreboding I created in my last poem I thought an element of tranquillity and calm was called for. :) Cheers - Gary

Thank you Christuraj. For some strange reason I find the shorter poems take me longer to write than the longer poems. :) Cheers - Gary
