The One You Never Thought Cared

We are a hand that opens a door We are a voice that says good morning We are a teacher without a lesson plan We are a counselor on the move We have two ears that hear and listen We have two eyes that never see enough We are known by first name to those who matter We are unknown to the many who complain We are not valued by those we work for We are worth more to those who depend on us We make perfect trips every day and no one notices We make one mistake and the tears of many will fall Our worst fear, our nightmare could come to pass Our pain most profound is one few will ever know We are the folks you never thought cared We drive the big yellow bus

Wow, Great poem Kim. Those people who have so much care and empathy for others, sometime go unnoticed, as expressed in this amazing piece. Great dedication. Enjoyable overall. Check out some of my poems. Might find some you like. Peace.

Thanks for the comment! I am school bus driver and I wrote it for school bus drivers and it has been well received by drivers all over the country and I think that is great.

Hello, Kim I love the passion from your write. When I was young, my parents relied on that big yellow bus. I have to admit, when I was young I looked forward when getting on and off the bus. Not only did the driver bring security on board, he knew our names and greeted us with smiles,.. In my heart I knew he cared. A lovely write... always~ LINDA

Thank you Linda! The kids always seem to know which bus drivers really care. Once upon a time bus drivers were taught to know their kids names and where they got off and on. I could tell you the names of the students I had on my first route twelve years ago and where they got on and off the bus. Some are the adults on my Facebook page.
