Author's Note: This poem is a special verse I wrote in 2016 in honor of Rainer Maria Rilke to celebrate his famous "Sonnets to Orpheus." Rilke's sonnets are well-worth a read for any poet. His translated "Sonnets" in English are quite wondrous as they are also in his native German. (Gary Bateman - May 1, 2020)

The Master of Nuances Supreme literary intensity Rainer Maria Rilke— Inspired as Orpheus sings Predilection for Die Dinge A mastery of true nuances A thirst for poetic symbols He sings now with Orpheus And the angels in Heaven. Gary Bateman, Copyright © All Rights Reserved December 5, 2016 (Verse)
