The Makeup of Her Soul

My favorite makeup is her smile, the lip gloss of a soul at ease, mascara of her grace and style, the rouge of blushing when I tease. My favorite jewelry: her eyes, gold flecks in starburst bright design, diamonds of silvered moonlight rise as they gaze deeply into mine. The beauty marks I love the best are those that deep within her dwell: intelligence; a sense of jest; and faith, her robust citadel. Her love is that accessory that ties together all she'll wear, with kindness her perfumed esprit that woos me as it fills the air. Her beauty comes not from a shelf nor from a product humans made, but deep within her winsome self - a loveliness that does not fade. Written 22 June 2022

Oh my dear PoBro, there goes my heart skipping beats again (but in a wonderful way..)! The tender emotions, the splendid adoration and the profound love expressed for your lady love fills me with a sense of awe for your genuine heart and for the frame of your soul that contains the portrait of a man so true, so filled with gratitude. How utterly beautiful, John, both your romantic soul-baring and your inspiring poem are enthralling. Warmest wishes and hugs.. your PS-PS

PS-PS, you might want to see your cardiologist about that heart condition *wink, wink* - I always adore your enthusiastic support, but coming from such an admired paragon of poetic prowess is mind-blowing. You inspire me over and over to keep setting quill to inkwell to paper to aspire to poetic heights unforeseen. Thank you for such a gift ~ PoBro

"The beauty marks I love the best, are those that deep within her dwell". She is blessed to be in your presence, to be in your life. John, you have such a wonderful heart. Outward beauty attracts and keeps us interested, but it is the inner beauty that truly leaves us breathless. This is a wonderful tribute to your wife. I know she's smiling. My best to you, my dear sweet friend. :) Hugs, Brandy

Brandy, I'm enamored by your comment but am sorry to have waited so long to reply. Life gets busy and these things slip by me. I love what you say about outward and inward beauty; both have their place in keeping us interested and leaving us breathless. You are such a dear friend to bless me with such a lovely comment. Hugs ~ John

Woah i can relate this to my hubby who says the exact same things of course not at all poetically though. He says natural beauty us better than make up and but i still love make up for parties and festive occasions with only ladies around. Your poem is super awesome and sentimental in a very charming perfect way she ought to enframe this. Kudos! ^^^^^^^^^^^^>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<~~~~~~~ Plz also read and comment on my newest poem too.

She is all that and more. Our favorite date night is watching the full moon rise, so I wanted to work that in somehow. Thank you for the read and response, your comments are always treasured my friend ~ John

John, your lines are charmingly beautiful. The thought of comparing her features to jewels, make-up, etc. is genius. Quite a lovely and romantic write.
