The Fate of Whole Nations

VI Transcendent in that unparalleled Attire! I confess I cannot help but admire, And always did, What all other men should find very Much Irresistible in her; It is as if, With the merest uplifting of that Proud and arrogant chin, The outstretched hand, it's slightest Touch, She effortlessly could defer The uncertain fate of whole nations. Suddenly, at the corners of the Mouth, that insidious little grin... And I am left wondering, again, what Now for these new deliberations?

Interesting rhyme scheme, and absolutely fascinating topic. I had no idea who you were thinking of but I saw Helen of Troy. HUH without reading the comments until just now, ... I see my guess was right, which means you succeeded expertly in mystery, her mystery, and with us!

Are you writing about the Statue of Liberty??? Or possibly the lady holding the scales of justice?

Hello, Richard. I never considered the Statue of Liberty for a poem before...until now that is :) It is in fact an ongoing trilogy concerning the legendary "Helen of Troy". I f you go back four or five poems or so you will see what I refer to; I have a little ways to go yet to complete the series.
