The Esthete
The human body may be a marvel
though he preferred his were of marble
or gold or some other precious metal
with a life approaching to eternal!
For flesh and blood failed miserably
as suitable for longevity
requiring daily sustenance
for hopeful future permanence,
besides expensive applications
of restorative medications!
None of which a marble body
had any need for happily.
While others pursued a livelihood
that benefited the common good
and brought them fame and wealth
though less than perfect health
neither diligence, nor luck nor miracle
has yet forestalled the inevitable.
