The Cats Dream

*** THE CATS DREAM *** The cats snuggling dream Of turning through the music between stars… Of their fur transformed to feathers… Of a time past when Brought to ballet class They danced for the great George Balanchine — As living models Jumping high, high to The peaking of their Seeming so easily springing leaps… To tap noses to his fingers Then hang as if landed there… In A pause overhead of any descent… A stay of all motion — even of time — Where Felines go To dream And dance ———————————————————————————————————- (c) Art & Poem sally young eslinger 5/14/22 Thanks be to God

Aww, so sweet. I sleep with my cat and I wonder if he dreams of transforming his fur into feathers as you mentioned. We'll never know...

My own kitty is getting up in years (16 now) but she can still dance when she's in the mood! I really like 'music between stars' and 'pause overhead of any descent' - I wish I could jump like they do~

Hi, dear Michelle. Google “George Balanchine takes cat to ballet class.” It’s well documented. Those phrases came easily just knowing the true story. As a young dancer we were told to think of cats when jumping & honestlyall their moves are graceful tho when clumsy,have that Who Me look!

Hello Sally, before I fall asleeep my cat licks my hands then bob s my hand to be petted. after that is done she settles down. This happens every night. When she dreams i gently pet her. Hugs,

Hi Darlene! Yes, can always tell when our furry family members dream. I’ve been worried over them at times too and gently pet them til calm sleep returned. This poem. Of course is personification/imagination and a great excuse for me to imagine ballet days again. Good day!
