The Burning of a Torch Singer
The Burning of a Torch-Singer
Her smoky vocals draw you near,
escaping from her eye a salty tear,
wrapped in memories of his caress,
still wearing her thin satin dress.
Luscious full lips and ebony hair,
a troubled heart full of despair,
watching her beauty and youth unfold,
waiting for a phantom, growing old.
Her hypnotic melody still captures all,
sad delusions perhaps he will call,
her voice hits crescendo like nothing is wrong
no longer the singer, she is the song.
