That Mindful Moment
I paused.
I heard the wind whistle
The leaves stir.
The birds call to rest
In the great trees.
Setting down
My burden
(that old backpack called life)
I rubbed my shoulders
Relief at last.
I had not noticed
Numbed to the pain
Until this moment.
And the deliciousness
Of it made
My toes tingle
My lips smile,
My feet do a happy step
In that mindful moment
Because I paused.
