I feel your essence with each breath of air In thoughts throughout the day... People who come this way Other times my mind goes way back to there The world was just for us The sky was our stardust We will never dance again until daylight Or have those conversations that last all night Tell me... I'll be okay The language of us went straight to my heart Lost... I let you come in You brought me out again Our lives came together right from the start Soft whispers are still heard... I recall every word Never could I have believed absence would be That you would one day become a memory Tell me... I'll be okay I understand somehow time passes on My heart will be with you... As we both always knew Mentally aware I am not alone I can still dance each day You did show me the way Not an empty vessel thrown onto the rocks Or the soul of a rich man the devil hocks I have inner strength you helped me to unblock Tell me... I'll be okay If not now... but some day May 16, 2018 QARINAGE Contest by Gregory R. Barden Fourth Place

A beautifully sad elegy made more powerful by its optimism and freedom from self pity. The repeated refrain is a heart wrencher. Very well written, Susan

So beautiful, sad but hopeful. A loss but you also remember the gift that you were given. Eloquent!
