Sweet Lady, Why So Sad-

I came upon a huge mural hanging on a wall the woman portrayed had such a sadness in her face she reached out to my heart and s o u l for sympathy . . . sweet lady, why so sad? I wished I could talk to her for a moment hold her hand and brush away all her deep sorrow I know this kind of sadness, I h a v e it too . . . was it your beloved's death? oh, perhaps it is any beloved's deaths that haunt you it could be the loss of a child, parent, friend or maybe someone has said cruel w o r d s my sweet lady . . . is it that my dear? still your sad heart dear, and lift your head high the world is full of mean people- I know this they do not care who they h u r t with their words . . . can you rise above sadness? ___________________________ August 9, 2017 Free Verse/Sweet Lady, Why So Sad Copyright Protected, ID 928208 Written for the contest, She Sits Alone sponsor, Eve Roper First Place

Too often, or maybe not often enough, art touches us, captures us, draws us into the emotions of the artist or draws deep emotion from within us. Great Job as usual BW

Hi Constance...the human condition...one of my favorite comedians, George Carlin...rip.. was able to pierce our subconscious & express verbally these very real emotions, similar to poets...your sweet poem reveals your compassionate heart, bless you...jimbo
