Summertime
"Summertime"
Summertime ~ when I was just a kid
With memories of all the "krazy" things I did
With very few cares and no concerns at all
It was fun time all the time ~ when I was small
Summertime ~ when I became a teen
Discovering girls with the future unseen
Get a date for the prom ~ next up a graduation
Do go to college or do I serve my nation
Summertime ~ when as a young man
I did enlist and marched for Uncle Sam
Summers now though had a very different feel
Still hot they were but with life now more real
Summertime ~ when as a grown man
Family responsibilities ~ have to now have a plan
The summers keep coming ~ same time every year
But time now is more precious ~ now time is more dear
Summertime ~ when in my middle age
In the Book of Life I have really turned the page
Memories of summers past do still bring a smile
The decades of summers known ~ how they do compile
Summertime ~ Aaah! Now at this time of life I do see
Thank You LORD for all the summers You have given me
The Springs, Autumns and Winters I've too enjoyed ~ I do attest
But as I sip this ice cold lemonade ~ the summertime is still the best
