Summer

The scents of Summer take my breath away like honeysuckle clinging to the vine whose blossoms show in redolent display as tiny tendrils to my heart entwine. The brushing breezes of a summer’s morn that softly run her fingers through my hair and beckon me, as sunlit skies adorn, to follow dearest dreams of days so fair. She comes into my life with open arms while following on heels of stormy skies, and shares with me the beauty of her charms that show so clearly through her azure eyes. With sunshine streaming down its balmy beams this lovely lady, Summer, fills my dreams. May 14, 2021

Thank you, Ann! This poem is almost 30 days old and will drop off the list in a couple days, I have been honored to have it there for a couple weeks. I have been quite busy lately and haven't written anything in about 10 days, sometimes life gets in the way of poetry. Hugs, John

Your "Southern roots" are showing with your mention of "honeysuckle," John. You've written such lovely lines with just the right touch of alliteration in your Sonnet.

Those are "Texas roots" my dear. I remember when I was a kid, in early summer you could always smell the scent of honeysuckle in the air. And if you pick the bloom and pinch off the end, you can taste the sweet nectar. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Jenna, I appreciate it.
