Sugar Blues

Your love is a candy Sweet as peach Better than tales and fables A way better than Magnolia wine Your love is but a candy Sweet as milk Better than an urban circus It beats the hell out of my morning breath But I always find myself Beside the stairwell Sprinkled with dirt Crying Spattering a few red drops Waiting for one last breath For your love is nothing But could then be a candy After a minute or two Even in the speed of thought It gently melts like an ice cream Against my ruptured tongue as any faithful sugar does
