Street Rat

Surrounded by sand, clay buildings with hollow insides for one thousand miles My secret hiding place overlooking a palace I wish, I wish I could rest my head there now instead of wasting away in the figment of my imagination I'm alone out here, all alone with my best friend, a performing monkey a magic carpet I once had a Genie but I turned my back and my promise of freedom transformed into a trick of desire for the heart of a princess What convinced me in hopes she would be mine Was it those magic eyes, that beautiful long flowing hair or it was the starry glow of her face that night on our magic carpet ride... I'm such a fool... I'm banished, for love I am banished because of a power hungry sorcerer and it's all my fault A lonely peasant I am but I wanted her, Jasmine to see the prince locked inside me I couldn't let her stomach the sight of the Street Rat riff raff and it eats me alive just knowing that Now I'm building a fire in snow to try to keep warm but the image of her face forms in sand and I can't...I can't... Why can't I just make things right...
