Starscape
I'll see you friend,
Against the pale sun
As it crosses over the bridge.
Your blanket covers your body,
Your senses are unclothed
For perhaps the first time.
There is a manic beat.
There is a common calm.
Monsters float this way and that
They can't see us though.
We are two in a sea of lost souls
Perhaps we have found the only dry land.
Perhaps we are their sanctuary,
But I'm afraid we can't let them in.
No.
I see a figure.
I see a group, and we must follow them.
Their philosophies and tired fingers,
Dry lips and propped eyes,
Become our herald.
They see past the dawn
And we will follow them into the bright day.
The tired night will weep for our bodies
But our souls will return
For they have much rejoicing
To do behind our sleeping eyelid
