Stars
The night was clear and cool, and I lay gazing at the stars,
the fresh cut grass felt damp beneath my head
Soon, through the darkness, I could see the glowing isobars
that tie mankind to heaven, like gold thread
I saw each light, just like each man, was beautiful and flawed
and though they faded as the new day dawned,
I'd seen in them, in us, in all, the boundless love of God
and I no longer feared what lay beyond...
